THE FALL: an eons-old story told in an edgy new way.

Battles between good and evil are everywhere in literature. J.R.R. Tolkien, J.K. Rowling. C.S. Lewis, and many other bright minds have chosen to illustrate the eternal struggle between these two opposing forces.

But have you ever wondered how it all started? Well, through THE FALL, a novel by Christian author and all-around awesome person Chana Keefer,of which I was lucky enough to get a signed copy, we get a vivid, emotional, gritty picture of what it might have been like, in a style reminiscent of that of the aforementioned masters of fantasy fiction.

THE FALL is a unique retelling of the story of Creation, starring Rapha, an angel who was the best friend of the infamous Lucifer, the one whose blind pride was ultimately his unmaking.  And yes, I said “starring”, because this book just begs to be turned into a movie. It is emotional, it is intense, it is epic in every meaning of the word, and most of all, it is a labor of love. Throughout the novel, as the grand story of our world’s origins unfolds, one truly feels the love of God pour through the pages. Where Lucifer’s evil wounds, God’s love heals. I loved how God was referred to as Adonai, it confers authenticity to the story, grounded in the Old Testament. I absolutely adored the scene where God gives His sentence to Adam, Eve(initially known as Glory) and the snake/Lilith. It is a reminder of how a fair judgment should always be hate-free. I believe this book is the perfect “how to start a hate-free life” manual. It certainly made me vow to renounce all unfair criticism of anything and anyone.

So if you’re looking for an inspiring, highly creative retelling of the story we all think we know, definitely pick up Ms. Keefer’s novel, THE FALL, book one in the RAPHA CHRONICLES. I can’t wait for the next installment and the movie. This is definitely a keeper and it is the beginning of a new era in Christian fantasy. Thank you, Ms. Keefer! Great, great job! 10 stars out of 5!
